When Love Becomes a Lifeline

Favour came into our care at SECHILD as a very young child. Her mother, overwhelmed and unable to cope with the challenges of raising a child with special needs, brought her to our center seeking help. We welcomed Favour with open arms, just as we do with every child in need.

For over two years, Favour lived at SECHILD, surrounded by a team that nurtured her, supported her development, and loved her deeply. During that time, we witnessed her grow in strength, spirit, and confidence. She became a part of our SECHILD family.

Then one day, her mother returned. She told us she was ready to take Favour back home and care for her. We were overjoyed. One of our greatest hopes is always to see families reunited stronger and more prepared to support their child’s unique journey. With hopeful hearts, we helped Favour transition home.

But just a few months later, during a short break when SECHILD had limited staff and only a few children on-site, Favour was brought back. Her mother left her at the gate and never returned.

It was a heartbreaking moment, but not the end of Favour’s story.

At SECHILD, we believe that every child deserves unconditional care, no matter their circumstances. Favour has remained with us ever since, and we continue to support her with all the love, therapy, and stability she needs to flourish.

Her resilience reminds us why we exist.

Favour’s journey is not uncommon but with the right care and community, stories like hers can have hopeful endings. SECHILD remains committed to being a place of refuge, healing, and opportunity for children who have been forgotten or abandoned, until the world remembers their worth.
