Kawan Aondofa-Anjira, (MRS, FIMC, CLIM)

SECHILD is not just an organization—it is a life’s mission birthed from the love, pain, faith, and resilience of its founder, Kawan Aondofa-Anjira. Her personal journey through profound adversity gave birth to purpose, shaping an initiative that today stands as a beacon of hope for children with cerebral palsy and their families in Nigeria.

Kawan is a wife and mother of four, including two children born with cerebral palsy. She experienced firsthand the trauma, isolation, and lack of care that confront many families raising children with special needs. Tragically, she lost both of her children with CP, Sedoo and Aondofa Jr.—yet their lives continue to inspire a vision of compassion and resilience. In loving memory of Sedoo, SECHILD was born, transforming personal pain into a national purpose.

Founder & President

A seasoned professional, Kawan holds a Master’s Degree in Mass Communication from Benue State University, Makurdi, and brings over a decade of experience in Nigeria’s banking sector. She has led multiple departments and managed full banking branches across leading commercial banks, where her leadership reflected strength, discipline, and excellence. Beyond the boardroom, she is also a trained teacher, certified counselor, inspirational trainer, and a preacher of the Gospel.

Her calling, however, runs deeper than professional accomplishments. Kawan is a passionate advocate and builder of safe spaces for children with special needs. She firmly believes that every child is uniquely created and loved by God; that disability is not a curse but a different kind of strength; and that no family should ever feel alone on the journey of raising a child with special needs.

Under her leadership, SECHILD has grown into a safe, structured, and compassionate center for children with cerebral palsy. The organization provides residential therapy and rehabilitation, counseling for parents and caregivers, training in life and rehabilitation skills, as well as orthopedic aids and early development tools. Most importantly, it offers a home where children are not hidden in shame, but embraced, celebrated, and given dignity.

Kawan continues to lead SECHILD with the same passion and resilience that carried her through life’s darkest moments. To her, every child represents hope, every parent deserves support, and every community has the capacity to include and uplift its most vulnerable members.

“We couldn’t find the help we needed, so we became that help for others.”
— Kawan Aondofa-Anjira

Through her vision and leadership, SECHILD is rewriting the story for children with cerebral palsy in Nigeria. With the support of partners, Kawan remains committed to restoring dignity, offering love, and opening doors of opportunity for every child and family who walks through SECHILD’s doors.
